Certification Courses

We know that every second counts in an emergency situation. We offer CPR/First Aid classes to people in our community so that they can make the most of those precious seconds. Our instructors teach how to perform CPR / First Aid on victims of all ages and how and when to use Automated External Defibrillator (AED), how to use a barrier device during rescue breathing and how to relieve a foreign body airway obstruction. In addition, the class covers the cardiac Chain of Survival for all ages.

Professional and Workplace CPR certification with Automated External Defibrillation (AED) for ages 12 and older. Pre-registration is required 3 days before class starts.

American Red Cross Lifeguard Course
Prescreening: Friday, April 27 6:00pm
Fee: $5.00
Purpose: to determine eligibility of prospective participants to enroll in the lifeguard training course. Individuals who complete these prerequisite swimming skills will be permitted to sign up for the Lifeguard Training course. Bring bathing suit and towel. Must be 15 years old on or before last day of lifeguard class (if pass pre-screening).
Swimming skills pre-screening test:
- 300 yard continuous swim - 100 yard front crawl (with rhythmic breathing), 100 yard breaststroke, 100 yard front crawl or breast
- Timed Event: swim 20 yards, surface dive 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound brick and swim 20 yards holding brick with both hands and keeping face at or near the surface so able to get a breath and exit water without using ladder or steps without gogles (within 1 minutes and 40 seconds)
- Tread water for two minutes using only legs (with arm/hands under armpits)
Lifeguard Course
Once past the pre-screening session on April 27 - Must be 15 years old on or before last day of class.
Everyone is expected to participate in all classroom and pool activities. There will be reading assignments each week as well as study and/or written assignments. Successful completion of written test and water skills is required for certification.

Fee should be paid after passing the pre-screening but before March 10 - course includes lifegard, first aid, professional CPR and AED certification (book and pocket mask included in course fee)

First Aid/CPR/AED for the Worplace
The purpose of the ARC program for the lay responder is to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to help sustain life and minimize the consequences of injurty or sudden illness until advanced medical help arrives. Each course will cover the appropriate age group skills.

Professional CPR and AED
Those with a duty to act learn the skills needed to respond appropriately to breathing and cardiac emergencies. This includes the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) to care for a victim of cardiac arrest.
