Swim Etiquette
Street Shoes:
Shoes worn outside can carry bacteria (E.Coli) and parasites (Cryptosporidium) onto the pool deck which is transferred to the water. This may sicken swimmers. Shoes that have been worn outside must either be removed or covered (with available shoe covers) when entering the pool area. Shoes that have not been worn outside may be worn on the pool deck.
Showers Prior to Swimming:
Soap showers remove body dirt/oils, lotions, deodorants, etc. Less "product" and dirt in the pool means cleaner and healthier water and a reduction in chlorine usage.
Food, drinks and glass containers:
Water in plastic bottles may be brought in the locker rooms and in the pool area. Other beverages, food and glass bottles should be saved for consumption in the lobby area.
Wounds and Bandaides:
Refrain from swimming until open wounds have scabbed over to protect you from bacteria. Bandaides should be removed prior to swimming.
Diapers:
Diapers must be designed for swimming. Disposable swim diapers should have a bathing suit or vinyl/rubber pants over top that has tight fitting legs and waistband to contain any accidents until the child can be removed from the water. Please ensure that a clean diaper is on prior to swimming in the pool.
Diarrhea:
If you have been ill with diarrhea, please wait to swim for seven days after your last "episode" to prevent disease transmission.
