Nurturing the potential of every child and teen.

We believe the values and skills learned early on are vital building blocks for life. At the Y, children and teens learn values and positive behaviors that makes for confident kids today and contributing and engaged adults tomorrow.

Water Exercise

What would the Y be without water? Water exercise, adult swim lessons (it’s NEVER too late) and adapted exercise for those with disabilities or in rehabilitation are some of the water-based activities you’ll find at the Y where we believe if you can do it on land, you can do some version of it in the water!

Water Exercise vs. Land Exercise:

  • You are 1/3 of your body weight on land, while chest deep in the water. Water cushions your impact while jogging or walking
  • When immersed in water to the neck, you experience 90% weight loss, which makes movements easier to do, while it maintains and improves joint flexibility
  • Your own buoyancy plus the support provided by the water allows you to do exercises that are difficult or impossible to do on land
  • Fitness: getting or keeping in shape!
  • Therapeutic: helps people recover from accidents and sickness. Combats the aging process!
  • Social: meeting and being with other people
  • Stress Release: gives you a chance to just relax and forget about work, problems or other things!
  • Fun: enjoy the diversion. Laugh and have fun, don't worry about being serious!
