Y Teen Club

Club Y

Our high-quality after school activities provide opportunities fo rmiddle school youth to: feel safe, improve academically, socially, emotionally and physically. According to the Afterschool Alliance, research has shown that there are approximately 20-25 hours per week that children are out of school while most parents are at work, creating an "afer school gap." Self care and boredom can increase the likelihood that a young person will experiment with drugs and alcohol by as much as 50%. Teens who do not participate in afterschool programs are nearly three times more likely to skip classes at school, more likely to use marijuana or other drugs and more likely to drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes and engage in sexual activity than teens who do participate.

Our program at the Y provides:
Homework assistance, at least one hour of moderate to vigorous activity, monthly hands-on science experiments/projects made possible through a partnership with the 4-H club, sports, games, social time, healthy snack, access to the Family Fitness Center with staff, Gym time and weekly swimming in our indoor pool, all in a safe and structured environment.

Program operates Monday through Friday, 6:30am-5:30pm at the YMCA. Landis, Rossi, Memorial and Wallace Middle School students, as well as area private school students are invited to register for the program. Program is held at the Y - cost is $165.00 per month.
